A cozy peppermint striped & gingerbread nook!

We spend quite a bit of time here, warm by the “fire,” reading books, playing with toys. Honestly, we watch TV here. We have a projector in our theatre in the basement, and a TV by the treadmill in the workout room. But for the most part, this is where we watch TV, weather it’s cartoons, sports, or Ted Lasso, this is our spot to veg. These prints were a new discovery for me. They are paper posters from Heirloom Art Co. and I absolutely love them. Their vintage images are so fun and playful for this space. Instead of purchasing big bulky frames, I decided to go with a less expensive and more versatile option. These teak wood magnet poster frames are just perfect. And you know I’m totally switching the posters out every season/holiday!

These built-ins are so fun to decorate! I hung a garland over the top of the molding and went through every single one of our ornaments to select each ornament having to do with sweets and food. I carefully wired each ornament to the garland so they would dangle down just enough to really be seen. This is a great idea for any space in your home where you don’t have room for a tree, or if you have a special collection of ornaments that you’d rather be out of anyone’s reach. We have a brass cookie cutter collection that I hung from the garland with ribbons, keeping with the “all things yummy” theme.

And I’m pretty obsessed with the “Better Not Pout” wreath on the door to my office. The little gingerbread girl and boy in the middle just make me smile!

The tabletop tree has our collection of Christmas Card Ornaments on it, one for each year of our marriage. It’s a sweet little tree, filled with so many happy family memories. I love the candy cane striped ribbons and bows. There are a few cardinals perched in there, some tiny gingerbread ornaments, some polka-dotted and striped Christmas balls, and a strand of copper cookie cutter lights.

And the best thing about this tree? The little ones are free to touch and grab, and nothing will break! Goodness knows there is another tree in this house that is breakable from top to bottom, so it’s nice to have one that doesn’t cause any stress. I think it makes sense that the childlike theme includes something that can actually be touched and enjoyed by children! Whimsical and childlike were the words I focused on while decorating this busy nook in our home. I think I nailed it!
